Helpful Information About Alzheimer’s Disease in the Orlando, Florida Area

Most often, spouses or other family members provide the day-to-day care for people with Alzheimer’s Disease. As their disease progresses and gets worse, people often need more and more care. This can be hard for caregivers and can affect their physical health, mental health, family life, jobs, and finances.  

You may be one of those people who are working really hard to care for a loved one, relative, or friend. They may already have an Alzheimer’s diagnosis, or you may think that they have the disease. You are overwhelmed. What can you do to help yourself better deal in this stressful situation? How can you learn information to help you cope in your daily activities? There are many local and national resources you may contact for guidance. National Associations are as follows:

This nonprofit group supports families and caregivers of Alzheimer’s Disease patients.  Chapters nationwide provide referrals to local resources and services and sponsor support groups and educational programs.

This service of the National Institute on Aging is funded by the Federal Government. It offers information and publications on diagnosis, treatment, patient care, caregiver needs, long-term care, education and training, and research related to Alzheimer’s Disease. Staff respond to your telephone and written requests and make referrals to national-and State-level resources.

The service of the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging provides information about and referrals to respite care and other home and community services offered by State and Area Agencies on Aging.
