There was helpful information in Home Resource Guide, A Handbook for the Alzheimer’s Caregiver. It explained “Common Symptoms Related to Alzheimer’s.” The article stated that Alzheimer’s disease causes damage to the brain tissue over a period of time. It stated that this impairment is represented by the various symptoms and changes in behaviors. It stated that although there are many common problems associated with Alzheimer’s disease, not everyone exhibits the same problems. It also described the signs and symptoms of the disease.

The article goes on to lay out the stages of Alzheimer’s Disease. Alzheimer’s disease results in a slow but progressive deterioration in intellectual and physical functioning. The symptoms are initially so subtle, and their onset so gradual, that the patient and his/her family may not be sure that anything is wrong. As the disease progresses, the disability it causes becomes obvious, and Alzheimer’s ultimately destroys memory, judgment and all cognitive functioning. It may also result in personality and behavior changes.
