What happens if you have a spouse or opposing party in an Orlando Florida Marital and Family Law case who will not agree to anything? They battle with you on every issue and fight you all the way. They are unreasonable and difficult. Even when you try to compromise, it is useless. Nothing is a simple process, even when there is no reason that it should not be a simple process. They are an impediment when it comes to co-parenting and settling your case. What can you do?
You do not want to spend your hard earned money on paying attorneys to argue every point and issue of the case. Further, you do not want the additional stress in your life that the constant bickering is causing you. However, at every turn, your spouse creates more acrimony and unnecessary litigation. What can you do? You may want to see an individual therapist to help you get through this difficult situation, which is stressful. The stress is enough without the extra aggravation that you must deal with because of your unreasonable spouse.
What else can you do? First, you may need to determine why the opposing party is acting like that and why they are so difficult? Was it because they are bitter and vindictive because of an extramarital affair? Or, do they have a diagnosed mental illness? Are they a domestic violence abuser? When a spouse has narcissism, bipolar, borderline personality disorder, or other mental illness, they can be extremely difficult to deal with in a case.
If they have a mental illness that affects their ability to parent the child, then you can file a motion and request they undergo a psychological evaluation or psychiatric evaluation. If someone is committing domestic violence against you, you can file an injunction for protection against domestic violence. You can call Safe House in Seminole County or Harbor House in Orange County if you are the victim of domestic violence. If you have children, you can request a Parent Coordinator to help to deal with the other party regarding Timesharing and the children’s issues. These are just some suggestions you can investigate to help you navigate your case.
