ZOOM OR MICROSOFT TEAM Mediation in the Orlando, Florida Area

Did you know that the Supreme Court of Florida has issued Administrative Orders regarding the conduct of Mediation in the State of Florida during COVID 19? Those Administrative Orders control the Mediation process in the State of Florida pending further orders of the court. There are many Supreme Court Orders regarding the operation of the court system and its processes on The Florida Supreme Court website. Further,  Orange and Volusia Counties in the Central Florida area were chosen as two of the five counties by the Governor to participate in a pilot program for remote court hearings and trials during COVID 19.

All the Court Mediation Programs along with Private Mediators in the Orlando, Florida area are conducting Mediation by ZOOM or MICROSOFT TEAM. ZOOM is a more user-friendly technology program. However,  MICROSOFT TEAM is the technology that most of the court systems are using because it is compatible with the technology that the courthouses currently have in place.

Whether you qualify for Mediation through the Courthouse Mediation or must use a Private Mediator depends on your income. The Court determines whether you qualify for Courthouse Mediation by the financial affidavit that you file with the Court. Mediation at the Orlando, Florida area Courthouses is as follows:

$120.00 per person, per scheduled session:  When the parties’ combined gross annual income is greater than $50,000.00 per year but less than $100,000.00 per year; and

$60.00 per person, per scheduled session:  When the parties’ combined gross annual income is less than $50,000.00 per year.

Private Mediators in the Orlando, Florida area charge between $200.00 per hour to $350.00 per hour on an average depending on the parties’ incomes and the Mediator’s experience. Some Private Mediators are willing to work on a sliding scale depending on the parties’ incomes.

You can use a computer with a camera or iPhone to appear at a ZOOM or MICROSOFT TEAM MEDIATION. You should do a dry run in advance of the Mediation to make sure that you can connect to the technology and everything works properly with the technology. If you have an attorney, they can assist you with these procedures. If you have an attorney, they appear from their office or home computer and you appear from your home computer or iPhone. It is important to remember that no one can be in the room with you when you are participating in a ZOOM or MICROSOFT TEAM Mediation.
